The Douglas Aircraft Company was an American aerospace manufacturer founded in 1921 by Donald Wills Douglas Sr. in Santa Monica, California. It became well-known for producing iconic aircraft, including the DC-3, which revolutionized air travel, and various military planes used during World War II. In 1967, Douglas merged with McDonnell Aircraft Corporation to form McDonnell Douglas, which later merged with Boeing in 1997.
