Vought was an American aerospace company with a long history of designing military aircraft, particularly for the U.S. Navy. Founded in 1917 by Chance M. Vought, the company specialized in carrier-based aircraft, producing iconic planes like the F4U Corsair, which played a crucial role in World War II and the Korean War. Over the years, Vought underwent multiple mergers and reorganizations, becoming part of Ling-Temco-Vought (LTV) in 1961 and later Vought Aircraft Industries. In 2010, it was acquired by the Triumph Group, marking the end of its independent operations.
